Schubert BMW driver Marco Wittmann addressed the penalty he received during DTM’s Zandvoort weekend, finishing second despite a post-race five-second penalty. He was penalized for allegedly pushing Jack Aitken’s Ferrari wide during an overtake at Turn 1. Wittmann strategically jumped to second place, acknowledging Aitken’s ability to brake later on the racing line. The penalty did not significantly impact Wittmann’s final classification, leaving him just 0.005s ahead of third place. Although challenging Rene Rast for the lead in the closing stages, the tight Zandvoort circuit made overtaking difficult. Despite the penalty, Wittmann was satisfied with his second-place finish after a challenging first race, positioning him sixth in the championship standings.
